Taking the Plunge: My Scuba Experience in Belize

My 3 kids and husband eagerly put on their masks and fins, ready to dive 40 feet underwater. Meanwhile, I stood at the edge of the boat, still deciding whether I had the courage to jump in. We had two instructors with us, and the lead instructor quickly took off with the rest of the Bohm crew. I, on the other hand, needed the full attention of the second instructor.

My nerves were shot. I was anxious and couldn’t seem to gather the courage to take the plunge. The instructor recognized my hesitation and took the time to talk me through my feelings. He was patient, calm, and understanding. After several deep breaths and steady reassurance, I finally managed to ease myself into the water. Slowly but surely, I made it 25 feet under the surface.

What I discovered down there was breathtaking. Schools of colorful fish swam past me, and vibrant marine life surrounded me. The world beneath the waves was incredible — a stunning experience I would have completely missed had I stayed in the boat.

I shared this experience recently while onboarding a client at DRIVEN Relationships. This client was hesitant to provide his database and approve messaging, worried about "saying the wrong thing" to his network. He doubted himself and second-guessed whether people wanted to hear from him. He was worried what they would think of him. We assured him that we would move slowly and carefully, treating his database like the most important people on the planet. We promised not to pressure him into anything he wasn't comfortable with. And told him that we are always here to listen and to think through things with him.
